Doctrinal Statement

The Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures of Old and New Testements, sixty-six books in all, are verbally inspired by God, and are inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

Ps. 19:7-11: Prov. 30:3-6: Rom. 15:4; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21

The True God

We believe in one God who is worthy of all worship, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Gen. 1:1; 2 Cor. 13:14, Eph. 4:6; 1 Tim. 1:17, 1 John 5:7

God the Father

We believe that, although God is the Creator of the universe and of the human race, He is the father only of those who accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We do not believe in the universal fatherhood of God nor in the universal brotherhood of man.

Gen. 1:1, 26-27; 2:7, 21-22; Acts 17:28-29; John 1:12-13; Gal. 3:26; 1 John 3:2, 5:12

God the Son

We Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the second person of the Triune God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born the virgin Mary into this world. He is both true God and true man. He voluntarily died, was buried and rose again, for the purpose of reconciling mankind to God. He now lives in heaven as our High Priest and Advocate.

Mat. 1:18, 23; 20:28; 28:19; Ps. 2:7; John 1:1, 14, 18, 29; 8:46, 58: Col. 2:9; Is. 53:5-6

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, of the same nature and equal with God the Father and God the Son and was active in the creation. We believe that in His relation to the unbelieving world, He restrains the Evil One until God’s purpose is fulfilled, and He convicts of sin, judgment and of righteousness. He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony. He is the agent in the new birth, and He seals, provides for, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer.

Gen. 1:1-3; Matt. 28:10; John 16:8-11; Eph.1:13-14; 2 Thess. 2:6-8, 13

The Devil, or Satan

We believe that Satan once enjoyed heavenly honors, but through pride and ambition to be above the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels. We believe that he is now the enemy of God and Christ, the accuser of the saints, and the author of all false religions. We believe that he is destined for final defeat at the hand of God’s own Son and for the judgment of eternal justice in Hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.

Is. 14;12-15; Eph. 2:2; 1 Peter 5;8; Rev. 12:7-9; 19:16-20; 20:10

Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of creation; that is is to be accepted literally, not allegorically of figuratively; that man does not exist as a matter of evolutionary development. We believe that man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness.

Gen. 1:1, 24; John 1:3; Heb. 11:3; Rev. 10:6

The Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state. The consequence of this is that all of mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but by choice, and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse. This condemnation includes the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.

Gen. 3:6, 24; Rom. 1:32; 3:10-19; 5:12, 19: Matt. 7:13-14; 25:34; Rom. 6:17-18, 23: Rev. 20:15-20

The Salvation of Mankind

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through the Son of God, by the voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner’s place. The blessings of salvation are freely available to all people, but are not based on any measure of righteousness. By faith alone in what Jesus Christ has accomplished, sinners become born again. The resulting new creation is the work of the power of the Holy Spirit an its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance and faith and newness of life. Because our salvation is entirely God’s work, and our keeping is entirely God’s work, we can have full confidence that we are eternally secure, and look forward to the time when Christ will return for us and take us to dwell in His presence forever. Those believers who die before that time are ushered into God’s presence immediately.

2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 2:2-9; Col. 1:21-23; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 Cor. 15:4, 25

The Church

We believe that a New Testament church is a congregation of believers, having been baptized by the Holy Spirit and joined together by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. We observe the ordinances of Christ, are governed by His laws, and exercises the spiritual gifts according to His Word. The officers of ordination are Pastors or Elders whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures. We believe the true mission of the church is found in the Great Ministry: Matthew 28:18-20, and the Great Commandment: Matthew 22:36-40. We believe that the one and only mediator is Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:41-42; Eph. 4:11; 5:23-24; 1 Tim. 3:1-15; Mark 16:15; Rom. 10:13-15; 14:22

Civil Government

We believe that civil government is the divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society. Those in civil authority are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, with the exception only of things opposed to the clear teaching of Scripture.
